Angelina Jolie heads to Haiti to visit quake refugees
February 8, 2010 by Sherry
When the photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Superbowl came out, astute readers pointed out that she was dressed in a way that was reminiscent of her humanitarian trips, especially her dusty boots.
Well, her boots were dusty but it wasn’t new dust – only because she hadn’t gone anywhere yet! However, after leaving Miami, while Brad and Maddox jetted home it turns out that Angelina headed to the Dominican Republic to visit with Haitian refugees!
Children who were still recovering from the massive earthquake that devastated Haiti last month were in the Dominican to be treated for various injuries. Angelina did a tour of the pediatric portion of a hospital in Santo Domingo. She also met with Dominican President Leonel Fernandez to discuss the current refugee situation, and was then preparing to head across the border to Haiti itself.
I know Angelina has been to Haiti before; I can’t imagine the shock it will be to see its current state in person.
I’m not at all surprised to find out that Angelina Jolie has gone to Haiti. It was really only a matter of time!
(In some other good news, I was watching CNN earlier and Dr. Sanjay Gupta said a man had been pulled from the rubble today after almost four weeks and other than extreme weight loss and severe dehydration he appears to be doing well. What a miracle!)

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie suing News of the World
February 8, 2010 by Sherry
A lot of PittWatch readers have wished for it and it seems that it’s finally happening – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s lawyer is taking legal action against News of the World for their false story about the couple’s so-called split.
Brad and Angelina’s lawyer Keith Schilling referred to the story as “false allegations about their relationship” and said, “We can confirm unequivocally … that the allegations published by the News of the World are false as well as intrusive.”
It’s been several weeks now since News of the World released their false story claiming that Brad and Angelina had met with a lawyer to begin a formal dissolve of their relationship, taking care of assets and custody issues.
Well News of the World, it looks like you’re part psychic because Brad and Angelina DID meet with a lawyer – except their legal meeting is all about suing you! Naturally the tabloid (slag rag as I like to say now) did not reply to calls from People magazine.
It’s embarrassing to purposely make a huge accusation like that, but I imagine it’s even worse when you get dragged into court for it too. This type of proceeding won’t stop all the tabloids from speculating but if this case goes through and Brad and Angelina successfully sue News of the World it might give other tabloids pause for a little while!
Normally I’m not one to shout “sue!” but in this case I’m happy to see that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are taking legal action because sometimes you just have to put your foot down and say enough is enough.
In the meantime, while this is discussed by legal teams, you can enjoy knowing that we already knew the truth anyway and enjoy the video of photos of Brad and Angelina with Maddox at the Superbowl in my previous post.

Photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Superbowl
February 8, 2010 by Sherry
No one knows how Angelina Jolie managed to slip quietly and unnoticed into the Superbowl on Sunday, especially since photographers did manage to see Brad Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt on their way in to the game. However, much to everyone’s surprise, there are many fantastic photos of Brad and Angelina cheering on the Saints, all the way to victory.
I found a video clip of some of the Brad, Angelina, and Maddox Superbowl photos check it out!
One of my favorites is this one with Angelina cheering hard, she looks like such a hardcore fan. I think that’s the same face and pose I was making when Porter intercepted and ran 74 yards for a touchdown, effectively changing the course of the game.
Speaking of cheering, I also love this shot where you can see just how excited Brad was over the game – he was so happy!
Then of course, there’s the one everyone’s talking about, the great photo of Brad and Angelina kissing right here. That’s one happy-looking couple!
Enjoy the photos! I’m still soaring over the fact that the Saints won, and I’m sure that with such close ties to New Orleans that Brad, Angelina, and Maddox are still ecstatic too!
Brad Pitt & Maddox Jolie-Pitt bring good luck to the New Orleans Saints
February 7, 2010 by Sherry
Okay, that headline is just a joke. The New Orleans Saints won the 44th Superbowl and they did it all on their own with a lot of hard work and some excellent playing. Brad Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt weren’t necessarily good luck charms, but I’ll bet they were PUMPED watching the game live in Miami tonight when the Saints won!
The two were photographed heading into the game with Brad looking pretty sexy in a suit and Maddox looking sharp in his fedora. I’ll bet they would have enjoyed themselves anyway but the fact that their team won makes it all the better.
In related news I’d like to apologize to anyone who might have been trying to sleep only to be disturbed by my crazy screaming but I really get into the Superbowl (football fans run in my family) and I was cheering for the Saints – not because of Brad and Maddox, but because it was their first time and I wanted them to win. Besides, New Orleans deserved something amazing.
Looks like Mardi Gras came early! I wonder if Brad and Maddox will stop off in New Orleans on their way home!
Congratulations Saints, you played amazingly well!

Brad Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt head to Miami for the Super Bowl
February 6, 2010 by Sherry
We saw them not long ago in New Orleans to cheer on the Saints, so it’s no surprise that today Brad Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt were photographed heading from Los Angeles to Miami in order to hit the Super Bowl on Sunday.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that Brad and Maddox are rooting for the Saints in the big game!
Is it just me or does it seem like Maddox grew up overnight? Kids have this freaky way of suddenly looking different, and Maddox is definitely getting bigger and turning into a young man. It’s hard to believe it wasn’t just yesterday that Brad was carrying him on his shoulders!

Discussion: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on TV
February 6, 2010 by Sherry
It’s been awhile since we’ve had a proper discussion thread here on PittWatch – although we often have great conversations anyway!
This discussion came to mind because of a comment that PittWatch reader Neil made in this post. The comment was: “What I would REALLY LOVE to see her do is a TV turn with Gabriel Byrne in the HBO serial “In Treatment”. THAT would be heaven for me.”
That prompted the conversation as to whether it would be as though Angelina Jolie was “lowering” herself to appear on a television show. The thing is, as I said in those comments, the lines between television and movies have really faded away compared to years ago. Now a lot of television actors film movies while the show is on hiatus (and many of them are quite successful) and many movie actors have appeared as guest stars on television or even moved to a regular TV show (such as Sally Field who is an Oscar-winning film actress but is now on the critically acclaimed Brothers and Sisters).
I don’t necessarily want Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie to do a regular television role although that would mean seeing them more often. However, I did think it would be fun if one or both of them did a guest appearance at some point.
Just for fun, what show would you love to see Brad or Angelina guest star in?
My favorite show on TV is Criminal Minds and I would absolutely love to see Angelina Jolie star as a serial killer. There have been several particularly excellent criminals on that show (and by excellent I just mean really well written and then well portrayed), particularly those played by Jason Alexander and C. Thomas Howell. I think it would be fun to see Angelina as a really well-developed psychotic character who uses her beauty and charm to lure victims in. There have been several male characters written that way, it would be interesting to see the female version.
Meanwhile, I really loved Brad as a detective in Se7en and it would be good to see him reprise a law enforcement role, maybe an FBI agent consulting on a case on an episode of CSI or a guest appearance on NCIS. On the other hand, he could be a great guest character on an episode of House either as a doctor or a patient with a really bizarre medical case.
How about you? Even though it’s unlikely that Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie will make a guest appearance on a television drama or sitcom – heck, maybe you’d prefer if they never did! – let’s just imagine for a moment. What show would you love to see them show up on?

Friday Flashback: Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie “Every Little Thing” fan video
February 5, 2010 by Sherry
Since it’s almost officially the weekend I thought it was a nice time to post a Friday Flashback again. This time I found a very nicely done fan video featuring photos and video clips of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at various events together.
I had never heard the song before but it’s quite nice! I especially like the quiet shared moments shown in the video, such as when they’re snuggling and smiling together at their table amid the noise of awards shows.
Enjoy! And be sure to pop in over the weekend because tomorrow I’ll have a discussion post up – it’s been awhile since we’ve done that and I always love reading everyone’s ideas!
Mark Millar still courting Angelina Jolie for “Wanted 2″
February 4, 2010 by Sherry
We’ve talked about it before and it seems that the reality is that Wanted 2 is going to happen because according to Mark Millar the script for Wanted’s sequel is nearly completed. The big question is: Will Angelina Jolie star in Wanted 2 like they’ve been hoping?
Of course, the even bigger question is how are they going to include the character of Fox in the sequel? On the other hand, that would be something that would definitely push me to see the movie – sheer curiosity!
Mark has essentially admitted that Angelina is not officially on board but if they’re still working on it then that means she probably hasn’t said a flat-out no either. I have a feeling that she’ll be interested if the final script makes it worthwhile. Angelina doesn’t need to do a movie to make money, she does movies because the topic touches her or the role seems like it would be a lot of fun to do. Mark said this about the current process of getting everyone to agree:
“We’ve been going back and forth with some ideas, but there’s a lot of people to please. There’s Angelina Jolie, there’s [director] Timur [Bekmambetov] and there’s Universal. Everybody is a perfectionist on it, so nobody wants to come in and cash the check and take off. Everybody wants it to be good. And the first movie made $340 million, so the bar is pretty high. It’s not as if we started small and this could hopefully get a bit bigger. This has got to be mega now because the last one made a lot of money and people are expecting a lot from it.”
I don’t think that a sequel is necessary for Wanted and I’m not even sure it’s a good idea. Sequels aren’t a guarantee of success (of course it has worked well for some film franchises, but many tend to bomb), and in the case of Wanted’s ending it could end up being really bad. I’d venture that a prequel might work better in this case, but if Angelina gives it a chance then I’ll try it with an open mind.
I’m definitely more interested in getting to see Salt and The Tourist but Wanted 2 could be fun in the end if they handle it well – and get Angelina Jolie to say yes!

People magazine describes Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie as a loving couple
February 3, 2010 by Sherry
As expected, not everyone was convinced when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie showed up together at the DGAs the other night, citing it as publicity. I have to ask, publicity for what exactly? Brad doesn’t have any movies out right now and Angelina’s next movie won’t hit theaters until July. As usual though, not everyone is willing to believe that Brad and Angelina are solid.
On the other hand, People.com posted a great article describing Brad and Angelina at the awards. They were said to have been spotted sneaking in through the kitchen which is kind of cute; it makes them sound like a couple of kids themselves. They were probably late – anyone with kids can attest to how hard it is to be on time for things! – and slipped in the back way.
The article also added that they held hands all night and laughed together. Meanwhile, guests who were in attendance with them confirmed that there was no denying that Brad and Angelina were very loving and happy throughout the night:
“They were a loving couple,” says a guest who spent time with them throughout the Jan. 30 event. “It was nothing you could fake. You could feel it, and you could see in their body language that it’s just a beautiful relationship. They were very sweet and tender with each other.”
The article continues, saying that Brad and Angelina stayed for the full four hours and then hung around afterwards to chat with others and to sign autographs (which we saw when we had the photo of Angelina signing a notebook for someone, which I re-posted above).
It concludes with another guest saying that despite what might be in the slag rags, “”Those two were very much together.”
Well no kidding! We already knew that, didn’t we PittWatch readers?
Inglourious Basterds at the Oscar Awards
February 2, 2010 by Sherry
The Oscar nominations list was revealed this morning (see the full list over here). As expected, Inglourious Basterds is up for several of them.
The movie is up for the following awards:
- Actor in a Supporting Role: Christoph Waltz
- Cinematography: Robert Richardson
- Directing: Quentin Tarantino
- Film Editing: Sally Menke
- Best Picture: Lawrence Bender, Producer
- Sound Editing: Wylie Stateman
- Sound Mixing: Michael Minkler, Tony Lamberti and Mark Ulano
- Writing (Original Screenplay): Quentin Tarantino
Whew! Also, I still can’t believe that this year there are TEN contenders for Best Picture. Whatever happened to five?
I’ve read a few things today where there are references to Brad Pitt being snubbed by the Oscars but I really disagree. To me a “snub” is more along the lines of being nominated at every single awards show out there EXCEPT the Oscars. Also, while it would have been nice, I don’t think anyone really expected Brad to be nominated for an Oscar this year. It’s not really a lead actor type of movie, hence the reason they were nominated as an ensemble cast a couple of times.
It’s already been announced that Brad and Angelina won’t be attending the Oscars but I’ll be tuning in to see how Quentin does. So far The Hurt Locker is doing really well at the awards shows and is a strong contender for Best Picture but I’m hoping Quentin will at least win for his original screenplay.
